Ordering, Fulfilment & Payment Processes are integrated with Microsoft Dynamics ERP solutions offering a seamless experience to Call Center Reps / CSRs leading to a higher level of customer service.

Sincs its first launch in 2011 with Release 6.0.1, several enhancements have been added in the module with the goal of providing a 360 degree view of the customer and order to Store Manager / CSRs, helping them service & sell to the existing customer base.

Features like Order and Quote import allow CSR’s to import bulk orders from any other system to Ignify eCommerce. This release also offers Prepayments providing CSR’s option to decide their payment action during Manager Panel Order Placement – they can choose “Authorize/Settle Later” option or “Capture/Prepay” option. “Capture/Prepay” option would charge the credit card immediately if credit card is used as a payment method.

    • 3.1 Sales Order and Quote Enhancements

Sales Order and Quote Import via Order Entry Module

Ignify eCommerce now supports importing Bulk Orders/Quotes via Order Entry Module. Once imported, these orders/quotes can be processed like any other order/quote in Ignify eCommerce system. Validations or save behavior applied to these imported orders/quotes is same as any native order/quote generated within Ignify eCommerce.

Proper validations and guidelines have been provided for Store Manager to ensure that orders/quotes get uploaded correctly.  Excel/CSV Template files are made available to speed up the order/quote upload process by guiding Store Manager on appropriate excel creation. Any error encountered while sales order/ quote import is logged for easy reference to the Store Manager. He can also review the imported orders/ quotes and process them for next stage (such as sending quotes to the customers via email) just as it would be done in the Quote / Order Entry User Interface.

Order/Quote Import is helpful for migration projects as well as various other business scenarios where Store Manager can push existing orders from any other system to Ignify eCommerce.

And subsequently the quote can be converted to an Order by CSR. Dynamics CRM users can easily find out finalized quotes or the ones converted to order. This also makes reporting from Dynamics CRM accurate on quotes.

    • 5.2 Microsoft Dynamics ERP Integration Optimizations

      eCommerce to ERP Integration Optimization

Ignify eCommerce Release 6.4 optimizes various eCommerce to ERP Batch integrations (Customer, Address, Sales order and Payment Integrations) in terms of performance.

In previous releases, integration queues were maintained via a flag (called “export completed”) in Customer, Addresses, Orders & Payment database table. During every batch run, the table was queried to find out which records were not integrated & then the table was re-queried to read the individual record. This approach used to cause performance issues as the table size used to grow over a period of time.

In Release 6.4, base tables for Customers, Addresses, Orders & Payments are scanned once per batch. Unexported records are transferred to a staging table before processing them for integrations. As a result, the integration process only runs on top of records that are not exported. This set of records is usually fixed in size since the batches run daily. For ex: a Merchant that gets 1000 orders a day would have 1000 records in this table, while base Sales Order table may contain a million orders. Integration process runs much faster while running on top of a table containing 1000 records vs a table that contains a million records.

      ERP to eCommerce Integration Optimization

For reading records from Dynamics ERP to eCommerce a slightly different optimization technique has been used.

A merchant may have half a million customers & a million addresses in their Dynamics ERP when they try to onboard Ignify eCommerce. In such a case, usually merchants expected Ignify eCommerce ERP integrations to also perform large data migrations during go live.

To fulfil such expectations, ERP to eCommerce Integrations now read ERP records in small batches. In case there are a million customers to be integrated, then the process would first read 100 records – integrate them & then read next 100 records and so on till all of the records get exhausted. This means that integration program uses lesser memory and does not run into out of memory situations when data migration scenarios are encountered.

In addition to reading the ERP records as batches, integration process now works in a disconnected fashion. This means that the entire batch of 100 records is read in a single ERP database query, and rest of the processing is done without any read command on ERP database. This reduces the amount of queries being made on large ERP database tables – leading to performance improvements.

    • 5.3 Stabilization of Various Dynamics ERP’s

In Release 6.4, significant time and effort has been spent for stabilizing various Microsoft Dynamics ERP’s – GP10, GP2010, AX2009, AX2102 and NAV2009. Detailed Analysis was done to find out pain areas and relevant fixes were done ensuring a better experience and service level to Fulfilment Manager. Various functional, technical and configuration errors earlier encountered by Fulfilment Manager have now been resolved. Running various integrations like Customer, Address, Sales Order, Invoice, Payment, Quantity and Price Integration for above mentioned ERP’s was never so smooth as should be after Release 6.4.

Configuration of these integration still continues to be more complex than needed & future releases would address this gap. The goal with ERP integrations is to make them self-serviceable by merchants. As an end goal, merchants should be able to do all of below without any help from Implementation or Support Teams:

      1. Install the ERP integrations on their Dynamics ERP. 2. Configure the ERP integrations as per their business needs. 3. Test & experience the end to end integrated transaction flow without any support.

    • 5.4 Sales Price for Microsoft Dynamics NAV2009

Current Release offers support for various Sales Price configurations present in Microsoft Dynamics NAV2009 with Ignify eCommerce. Sales Price and Line Discounts can be configured in Dynamics NAV2009 for a particular customer, customer price groups or all customers.

  • 6. TECHNICAL ENHANCEMENTS

Several technical enhancements have been incorporated in Release 6.4. Store Id concept first launched with Multi Store has been completely refactored to help run Multi store businesses more efficiently. Activities like unwanted code cleanup and resource file cleanup have been taken up aggressively resulting in 50% reduced file size for the store front.

Another important enhancement is checkout reengineering and phasing out the legacy shopping cart. This would translate into a relatively stronger checkout process that would also support assisted checkout in future releases.

    • 6.1 Store Cleanup

      Store Id Refactoring

Store Id usage has been completely refactored in current release. Store Id plays an important role in Multi Store business where there are Multiple Store Fronts but accounting in done in a single ERP.  Below listed are the various modules of Ignify eCommerce that have relationship with the Store Id.

✔ Catalog- Store Id is mapped with home category present at top level (under English) within the catalog. Search, Featured Products and other Store Front widgets stay within the boundaries/scope of Store context by virtue of Store Id field. ✔ Customer- Shoppers now have a Primary Store Id associated with them. This has a significant advantage in customer experience since shoppers are likely to go back to the same store they used first time. User interface displaying primary store for the shopper shall be made available in future releases. ✔ Orders- Sales Orders, Sales Quotes and return orders have a Store Id association. Each order is linked to a store and that relationship has been leveraged for any store specific operation. ✔ Marketing and Promotions- Coupons have association with shoppers and stores. For any catalog operation, the Store/Shopper identification can come from the Store Front and for Order operation the Store/Customer identification can come from the transaction. ✔ ERP company- ERP Company is the legal entity that conducts the business. While the stores are used for conducting the transactions, the accounting has to be done in a single ERP company. Each Store in Ignify eCommerce has been mapped to a Company Id. Company master table has also been introduced to hold information about the legal company. Future releases shall build a multi company, multi store eCommerce experience where a single integration application would be able to process all the companies via a unified set of integrations. The Company master would be used to map eCommerce Company Code with ERP Company.

      Retired Code Cleanup

In earlier releases Microsoft ASP.NET MVC had been adopted as a pattern to develop Store Front User Interface and help separation of user interface from business logic. Though we had discontinued earlier themes that were not built on this framework, the retired code and folders were still present in Ignify eCommerce solution.

Most of the retired code has now been removed with solution size reduced by around 40%. This process was delayed to ensure that all widgets & functionality that was present in previous version of catalog is made available in ASP.NET MVC catalog. Files and folder structure have also been restructured as per business needs.

      Resource File Cleanup

Related to retired code cleanup, retired resource keys were also removed. The cleanup activity has reduced resource file size by approximately 50% making it easier for multilingual implementations.

    • 6.2 Checkout Reengineering

With Release 6.0, we had launched a new Manager Panel Framework that behaves like Sharepoint on user interface providing ease of Navigation, filtering, finding records etc. We had also rewritten our Order Management API with that change. Over last 8 to 10 months, we have improved Order Management facilities significantly & added more and more services to run on top of the new Order Management API while phasing out legacy Shopping Cart & Order Frameworks.

With Release 6.4, we have transitioned Storefront Checkout Process to use Order Management API leading to significant benefits that shall be visible on User Interface in future releases.

✔ Shopping carts can be seen in Manager Panel just like an Order. ✔ Shopping carts can be exported to excel for analysis of what is in the Cart & associated promotions if any. ✔ Any calls for checkout assistance can be serviced more effectively by directly taking the customer’s cart & processing it in Manager Panel via Order Entry interface. For ex: You can request the shopper to provide credit card details over the phone & apply it to her shopping cart. ✔ Login shall no longer be a mandatory step for checkout. Shopper can register to the Store Front even after placing the order. ✔ Shopper shall have facility for saving multiple carts and reuse them in future. ✔ ‘Add to Cart’ as widget between Content Management systems and Ignify eCommerce Checkout Process.

There are few improvements that have been made in Release 6.4 related to Shopping Cart framework. These features were available earlier as well but have been reengineered in current release.

✔ Conversion of Quotes to Orders has been done via Order Management API. ✔ Edit Quotes functionality has been introduced, this is powered by Order Management API.
