Edwin Watts Golf Chooses Microsoft Dynamics for Omni-Channel Retail
"Edwin Watts Golf is truly a specialty retailer. Our products are very complex. We need the flexibility and ease of customization offered by Microsoft Dynamics for Retail."
Lynda Barr, Chief Financial Officer, Edwin Watts Golf Shops |
Over the past four years, Edwin Watts Golf Shops (EWGS) has grown its retail business to more than 90 retail locations in addition to direct mail and Internet sales. The company has also grown in complexity, offering custom equipment, trade-ins, and specialized customer service that taxed the capabilities of its aging legacy systems.
The company’s AS/400 hardware was approaching obsolescence, and the lack of integration between its inventory management, general ledger, and PC-based point-of-sale systems contributed to numerous inefficiencies. Employees were required to enter orders and product information multiple times, and analysts and executives couldn’t easily monitor business performance without manually consolidating data from multiple sources.

Consumer Electronics Distributor Automates Processes and Improves Worker Productivity with Microsoft Dynamics AX
"Retail is a very tough, margin-tight business, especially with the wide variety of products and information available to the consumer today. Our customers need up-to-date and accurate information on all aspects of their supply chain, at all times. Microsoft Dynamics AX gives us the tools we need to provide any information needed by the customer in a timely way."
Gary Godman, Vice President Information Technology and Services, ESI Enterprises |
ESI Enterprises contract manufactures and distributes consumer electronic products to retailers in North America, Canada and Mexico, and provides repair facilities for products for which the company is the manufacturer of record. With the growth of e-commerce as a retail channel in the last several years, the company also provides drop-ship services to some of its customers, delivering crucial back-end shipping, tracking, and delivery assistance. However, with a previously outdated ERP software solution managing the company’s inventory data and financial processes, ESI Enterprises suffered from a system that could not interface with new technology, resulting in time-consuming manual processes that hindered worker efficiency and prevented a clear overview of company information. With the data automation functionality and flexible technology platform provided by Microsoft Dynamics AX, ESI Enterprises benefited from consolidation of financial analysis and reporting data; reduction in time needed to perform crucial sales and order processes; and in-depth visibility into all stages of a customer’s supply chain. Microsoft Dynamics AX Helps Online Bidding Company Improve Efficiency and Launch New Business Units
"With Microsoft Dynamics AX, there’s an open set of core business objects that are implemented with industry best practices, so we don’t have to re-invent the wheel. It gives us a very solid base to build from."
Leon Kuperman, President and Chief Technology Officer, BIDZ |
BIDZ.com is a publicly listed retailer that specializes in jewelry, fine art, collectibles, and accessories sold through on online auction format. The company sells products from leading brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Disney, Rolex. BIDZ needed an enterprise software solution that provided flexibility to launch new lines of business as well as provide integrated functionality for sales, purchasing, inventory, warehouse, and financial management. The enterprise software also needed to be flexible to work with its unconventional business model, with very different selling formats across three unique divisions – BIDZ.com, BUYZ.com and Modnique.com. In addition, BIDZ needed a system that could integrate with its online sites and handle a high volume of orders from inventory that changed very frequently. BIDZ selected Microsoft Dynamics AX due its flexibility, superior technical architecture, deep integrated functionality, ability to easily integrate with its online sites and its ability to scale to handle its large volume of transactions. National Wireless Phone Distributor Streamlines Operations with Microsoft Dynamics AX |
"The integrated implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX differentiates us from everyone else as a fullservice provider"
Rick Matson, Celluphone |
Celluphone, a wireless phone distributor with headquarters in Los Angeles and other offices throughout the United States, was experiencing growing pains with its financial and warehouse systems. For one, the financial and warehouse/logistics systems were not integrated, which meant many hours of manual import. Also, the systems did not have the functionality to easily and uniformly support Celluphone’s separate corporations and locations. Microsoft Dynamics AX provided multi-company capabilities that would allow the various Celluphone entities to manage their business and also provided a great deal of flexibility as well as the capability to integrate with the current bar-coding infrastructure. Celluphone chose Ignify, a Microsoft Gold Certified partner, to implement the “Trade and Logistics” functionality to automate the warehouse and back-office operations as well as implement the customizations that Celluphone desired. Ignify was able to quickly get the implementation kicked off and provide deliverables in a timely fashion. In addition, Ignify’s ability to write effective customizations and its expertise in running Microsoft Dynamics AX has helped Celluphone increase its business, automate its processes, and provide unparalleled customer support to its retailers. Ram Kanagala, IT Director, Ellison |
Ellison, a leading manufacturer and distributor of popular craft and educational products, realized it needed to improve internal processes to reflect its business model in the current global scenario. As sales channels crossed geographical boundaries and customer groups became less defined, Ellison needed an updated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that could take over for its existing one, which was bogged down with customizations and legacy processes. The company opted to implement Microsoft Dynamics® AX. Ignify, a Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner and Microsoft Dynamics President’s Club and Inner Circle member, helped Ellison implement the new system and also ensured that integrations with existing applications remained or were replaced with in-system functionalities. Ellison is now able to quickly and easily manage sales and inventory transactions, and to leverage its customer and sales history in order to create accurate reports that help guide sales and marketing decisions.
